Abhishek Bachchan & Karisma Kapoor’s Broken Engagement: What Really Happened?

The Abhisek Bachchan and Karisma Kapoor relationship was once most discussed topic in bollywood industry. Both belongs to such a big and reputed families of hindi cinema. One is son of Amitabh Bachchan and One is daughter of Randhir Kapoor and Karisma also belongs to first family of hindi cinema. There was a time when both were in a relationship, however later they separated. On the grand celebration of Amitabh Bachchan’s 60th birthday in 2002. The engagement of Abhisek and Karishma was officially announced. The Bachchan and The Kapoor families were already connected with the marriage of Amitabh Bachchan’s daughter Shweta and Raj Kapoor’s grandson Nikhil Nanda, who is the son of Ritu Nanda and Rajan Nanda. Ritu was daughter of Raj Kapoor. The marriage of Shweta and Nikhil was happened in 1997.

According to reports available in internet, Abhisek and Karisma where dating each other for five years, before the official announcement of their engagement. The engagement was celebrated perfectly and Karisma also stated that it was a wonderful feeling to be part of such a big family, which totally reflects her happiness. However, with the few months of their engagement, it was unexpectedly cancelled.

Both the Kapoor and Bachchan family chose to remain silent on this topic. But according to an old report of Cosmopolitan, Babita Kapoor who is mother of Karisma Kapoor was a major factor in the fallout. After her separation from his husband Randhir Kapoor, She raised Karisma and Kareena Kapoor, single handedly. Babita wanted to secure’s Karisma’s future and according to rumors she was also concerned about Abhishek Bachchan’s financial stability and career at that time. Karisma was already a leading and top actress of bollywood at that time and Abhishek was just started his career and trying establish and making his path in the industry and at the same the Bachchan family was also facing the financial challenges due to a production house and mounting debts.

There are rumours that Karisma Kapoor’s mother wanted a legal agreement from the Bachchan family, where Amitabh will transfer his wealth and shares to his son Abhishek for securing the future and financial security of Karisma’s. But the Bachchan’s refused this agreement, which later led to the engagement being cancelled. However these are rumours none of the family members from both the families has confirmed anything from this.

But, this didn’t affected the friendship or relationship between Kapoor’s and Bachchan’s, Karisma and Abhishek haven’t spotted together after that, but both the family members spotted together on many occasion like Amitabh has good friendship with Randhir Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor also with their uncle Shashi Kapoor. Amitabh and Shashi had did many films together. Later Karisma and Abhishek moved on. Karisma married to Sanjay Kapur who is an industrialist, they have two children one son and a daughter, but they later separated. Abhisek married to Aishwariya Rai and the couple has a daughter name Aradhya Bachchan.
