Kobe Bryant was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on August 23, 1978. Kobe Bean Bryant was the pro basketball player’s son. He was a standout high school basketball player in Ardmore, Pennsylvania, earning numerous national Player of the Year honours. Despite setting scoring records, he chose to enter the NBA draught rather than attend college, and was chosen by the Charlotte Hornets before being traded to the Lakers.

Bryant joined the NBA at a young age and became the league’s second youngest player in 1996-97.
