He helped the Warriors reach the playoffs from his rookie season, giving them a dimension they didn’t have with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. After two years of unsuccessful playoff appearances, the Warriors won the NBA Finals in 2014-15, with Green recording a triple-double in Game 6. The following season, GSW had the best regular season in the sport, going 73-9 and setting the record for wins in an 82-game campaign. However, the Warriors couldn’t win a second straight title that season, falling to the Cavaliers in a thrilling seven-game series.
In 2016, the Warriors brought in former MVP Kevin Durant as a free agent, who pushed the Warriors to an even higher level, winning back-to-back titles in 2017 and 2018. Green and Durant had a contentious relationship, but they made it work with three straight Finals appearances together. Green missed a series of games from 2019 to 2022, but returned fully fit in the 2022 postseason, where the team delivered their fourth NBA Championship.
