Basant Soren is an Indian Politician and he is member of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha one of the leading and biggest political parties of Jharkhand State. Jharkhand Mukti Morcha also known as JMM was founded by Binod Bihari Mahto. Binod Bihari Mahto was born on 23 September 1923 he was an advocate and also a politician, He founded JMM in 1972. He was member of Bihar Vidhan Sabha for three times. Basant Soren is the current cabinet minister for ministry of roads & buildings and constructions & water resources. He is member of Jharkhand legislative assembly for Dumka constituency. He is the younger son of Shibu Soren. His father Shibu Soren is the president of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), also he is current member of Rajya Sabha, He is also former Chief Minister of Jharkhand served as the 3rd CM of the Jharkhand State.
He is younger brother of Late Durga Soren and also the younger brother of current CM of Jharkhand Shri Hemant Soren. His brother Durga Soren was also well known politician in Jharkhand, He was also the leader of JMM but unfortunately he passed away at just 40 years old on 21 May 2009 the cause of death according to reports is said to be brain haemorrhage. His sister in laws are Sita Soren wife of late Durga Soren and Kalpana Soren wife of Hemant Soren. Basant Soren took the oath on 16 February 2024 in the Champai Soren led government in Jharkhand. Basant Soren’s mother is Roopi Soren. Basant Soren Brother Hemant Soren served as the 5th Chief Minister of Jharkhand. Basant is also one of the Prominent figure in the Jharkhand Politics.
